projection photography is really easy to do and really effective to use during photography, it is basically using different images and having them projected onto a person's body/face yo create a kind of optical illusion . there are many different ways of usinmg this teqnique, i.e projection onto walls, buildings, vehicles, you can pretty much use projection photography on anything.
...
lots of different people use this teqnique, not just photographers, but also artists/singers in there music videos and by projecting photos onto them while theyre onstage, for example Rihanna has used it in alot of her videos such as 'we found love' and 'you da one'. Recently she has been projected onto the iconic builing 'Marble Arch' in london as advertisement to promote her new perfume 'rogue' and received huge public and media attention and was praised for being and imaginative way of promotion for products.
Image evaluation.
i like this picture because initially it looks as if it is just a basic image of an old building but once you start to look at it in real detail, the image of the hand and shoulders start to appear and so begins to look more interesting, innovative and imaginative.
I like the pose in which the model is standing, not with her face or any features, drawing the attention from the main focus, and that with just a simple and basic stance the image really jumps up off the body and is made to look really bold.
I also like the idea of projecting the image onto a long, soft and smooth part of the human body, as the back doesn't have any actual features, or parts to it that could make the image unclear in any way.
finally I think that the way in which the models hand is slightly placed onto her left shoulder is good because it confirms to the person looking at the image that the long smooth surface is in fact a woman's back, whilst also initially adding confusion.
I am unsure as to who this photo belongs to as I simply found it whilst browsing on the internet, but decided to annotate is anyway as it was my favourite of those I had found for the above projection moodboard.

artist research
the first artist I have chosen to research and study the work of is Lee Kirby. his work includes other types of photography such as portraiture and nature photography, and has recently completed a projection photography project, in this project he has also merged two of this interests (nature and projection) to create nature inspired images.
lee Kirby is a Freelance Photographer living in London, England, and was born in Norwich in the late 1970's. he studied photography and art in college and went on to be a successful photographer for a living.
